Hello! If you're here then I hope you are ready to either start making exercise a part of your life or take it to the next level -and I would be thrilled to join you on your fitness and health journey.
My journey into the world of fitness began in earnest while working as a health journalist for Health24 after relocating to Cape Town from Joburg.
As the fitness editor I wrote a fitness blog (read it here) where I documented various types of fitness programmes and tried out all different kinds of exercise - from belly dancing to Gracie Jiu Jitsu and CrossFit. It wasn't long before I was hooked on the amazing feeling that I got after a good workout. The more I exercised though, the hungrier I got for more information about exercise. I wanted to know why some exercises worked better than others and which muscles worked together to do different movements and how to improve my form across all the different exercises I did.
This led me to first study and train as a Group Fitness Instructor and I became a Preggi Bellies instructor. Having done Preggi Bellies when I was pregnant with my child, I loved their methods and the class vibe.
In March 2013 I did a kettlebell course with the kettlebell king Shaun Cairns of Kettlebells for Africa, earning my certification as a kettlebell instructor.
In July 2013 I qualified as an ACE-certified Personal Trainer through F.I.T. Principles.
In December 2013 I did my CrossFit Level 1 trainers course at Cape CrossFit and qualified shortly after.
However, as any good trainer will tell you exercise is only a part of changing your body, so in 2015 I did a Diploma in Nutrition and Weight Consultantancy and paired this with a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy. I now offer my clients the full package.
Whether you prefer training on your own or enjoy the motivation of training with a friend I provide both one-on-one training or small-group training for you and some friends. Contact me and find out my rates for each and we can work out a plan for where you want to train and a programme to suit you and/or your friends.
Training with friends or family can be lots of fun and motivating too. I offer small-group training for up to 4 people, which is also done in the comfort and convenience of your own home or in my garage-style gym in Sunningdale. Many clients prefer this as the rates for group training work out cheaper per-person while still receiving individual attention.
The style of training I provide will depend entirely on your goals and your abilities. I primarily focus on bodyweight movements and include kettlebells in the workouts.
The aim is to help you reach your goals while getting you stronger and fitter so you are the healthiest, fittest version of yourself you can be.
